What should I do if a creditor calls me at home or work?

If a collector calls you, tell them you have signed up with Shield Credit. Give them your client I.D. number and the creditor telephone number, which is 402-501-8171. Most creditors are happy to call us. In many cases, the creditors direct all contact to Shield Credit once the proposal for repayment has been accepted. In the rare event a collector is persistent, you must be firm but polite with the collector. Do not promise to make a separate payment to them. Notify your Account Manager immediately that you are receiving collection calls so that the Account Manager can get to the root of the problem. It's important to remember that Shield Credit works directly with the counseling division of most large creditors. Many of the collectors that call you aren't even aware the counseling department of their company is making arrangements on the account until the account profile is updated and the collection department can no longer access the account. Your Account Manager will make sure all the necessary notifications are made.
